What to do
In this section, we will take a look at Wexford during the 1798 Rebellion. Have you heard of this important event in Irish history?
Around 30,000 people were killed in Ireland during the five months between 23 May and 15 September 1798. Munster was the most peaceful county and Leinster was the most violent. And of all the counties in Leinster, Wexford saw the most fighting.
Lots of different groups were involved for many different reasons. Catholics and Protestants, rich and poor, fought together against the English army. We will take a look at what united these different groups, why they fought and some of the most famous battles.
